Na Na Na Na Na Na Na, Pink's gonna start a fight!
November 4th 2008 06:36
Pink has whipped Australians into a ticket-buying frenzy!
Her concerts are sold out and people are clambering for more. There is something about the outspoken litlte rockstar that Australia just cant get enough of - she is a gay icon, female role-model, and brutally honest lyricist - does she appeal to our fighting spirit?
If Pink's latest chart-topping single is anything to go by, she still got alot of fight in her. This time she takes on her ex Carey Hart, and her favourite punching bag Jessica Simpson. But which parts are venting and which are genuine animosity?
I guess I just lost my husband
I don't know where he went
So I'm gonna drink my money
I'm not gonna pay his rent (nope)
I've got a brand new attitude,
And I'm gonna wear it tonight
I'm gonna get in trouble
I wanna start a fight
Having her ex, Carey Hart, in the Dave Meyers-directed video diffused some of the reaction to these provocative lyrics.
Pink "So What" music clip:
“At first I was kind of irked because everyone was like, ‘Well, wait. I thought the split was amicable and now she’s talking shit about him?! What the fuck?’ It’s hypocritical.’ But once everyone saw the video and saw that Carey was in it, it shut everybody up, which was lovely ... Carey hadn’t heard the song before he did the video. That’s how much he trusts and loves me. He pretty much just rolls his eyes, throws his hands up in the air, and hugs me. He gets it. He gets me. It’s nice.”
Pink
Pink met professional motocross racer Carey Hart at the 2001 X Games in Philadelphia. Pink proposed to Hart in 2005 by doing his pit boarding and then asking him to marry her during one of his races in Mammoth Lakes, California. They married in Costa Rica on Jan 7, 2006. They seperated Feb 19, 2008.
Many of the lyrics of "So What" express pain and loneliness, not just anger.
You weren't there
You never were
You want it all
But thats not fair
I gave you love
I gave my all
You weren't there
You let me fall
"This decision was made by best friends with a huge amount of love and respect for one another"
Michele Schweitzer (Pink's publicist)
The waiter just took my table
And gave it to Jessica Simps (Shit! )
I guess I'll go sit with drum [Tom] boy
At least hell know how to hit (Oops)
What if this flops on the radio,
Then somebodys gonna die! haha
Pink has an on-going "feud" with Jessica Simpson, targetting her as the epitome of everything undesirable about famous women.
In her music video for "Stupid Girls", Pink did a parody of many prominent bimbos including Jessica Simpson, Lindsay Lohan, Mary Kate Olsen and Paris Hilton.
“[Paris Hilton] came up to me in a nightclub a couple of months back and she said, ‘I hope you realize that the person I seem to be in the press is really just an act and the real me is really smart.’ I said, ‘Just get over it. The song was like years ago. Quit bugging me.’
I still take a pop at Jessica Simpson in my new video. That girl hates me. But it’s just that her name happens to be a good rhyme fit for lots of lyrics… and, of course, she’s like, Jesssicaaa Simpson. Those girls are something else. There’s part of me that thinks they’re such losers, but there’s also a part of me that admires how they actually play the game. I’m so bad at playing the Hollywood game. I just hate all that fake stuff.”
Pink
There are two versions of the lyrics floating around - one says "drum boy" and one says "Tom boy". It is easily mis-heard and perhaps purposely ambiguous. "Drum boy" fits in with the video clip that features a character that looks like a drongo with drum-sticks. But many fans are hearing "Tom boy" and presuming it is a further jibe about Simpson and the unflattering comments made about her by footballer Tom Brady
In December last year Tom Brady reached out to fellow footballer Tony Romo, to warn him about bringing his girl to games. Tony Romo plays football for the Dallas Cowboys and Tom Brady for the New England Patriots. Tony's "girl" is Jessica Simpson and the comments sparked a media furor where Simpson came out publicly to declare that she is not a jinx.
Since Jessica Simpson started dating Tony Romo and attending games, some fans believe his performance had been sub-standard and distracted. There was a game "debacle" where Jessica was being flashed on the screens during every play. Tom told Tony to put a stop to allowing Jessica to come to games.
Tom's current girlfriend is Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen. Gisele has been applauded for knowing when to keep away from games. Since her split with husband Nick Lachy, Simpson has been linked with Jude Law, Adam Levine, Dane Cook, and John Mayer. Her tendancy to only latch herself to high profile men suggest the relationships have an element of publicity stunt to them. There is some concern that Tony Romo may be sacrificing a sporting career to appear in Jessica's photo-ops.
Pink really does hate "the fake stuff" and does not apologise for mocking the female celebrities who are more interested in networking than being genuine.
There is much speculation about Pink's sexuality and many were surprised by her marriage. Pink refuses to label herself but acknowledged past gay relationships and the role of the queer community in achieving success and personal freedom.

"So What" is a triumphant break-up anthem, a frustrated woman venting over a failed relationship. But why not have a jab at Jessica while you're getting it all of your chest . . .

Why do you think you have such a strong gay and lesbian following?
I’ve been asked this a couple of times recently. Honestly? I don’t know. Maybe because I’m a smart ass and don’t really care for stereotypes and prejudices, or maybe people can tell I’m open-minded and see everyone as individuals. All I know is, I’ve always identified with people who struggle and they’ve always seemed to identify with me.
We know you married your long-term beau, Carey Hart, last year, but have you had sexual relationships with women in the past?
I don’t like to talk about my private life too much, but I have, yeah. My first girlfriend actually really fucked my head up – she left me for my brother. I was only 14 at the time, but I still find it pretty gross. I could have understood her running off with a friend or classmate, but to go from kissing me to kissing my brother? Ugh.
How old were you when you first realised you were attracted to women?
The first time I really noticed another girl, I was 12 and used to go dancing at my local gay club. It wasn’t the best club I’ve ever been to, but the atmosphere was fantastic. I remember just dancing for hours and feeling really free.
What kind of ladies do you go for?
I don’t have a specific type when it comes to men or women. They can be blonde, brunette, butch or femme. The main thing is whether or not they have a great personality and a sick sense of humour.
Do you identify yourself as bisexual or queer?
I don’t like labels; they’re too easy. I’m just about good energy and good feelings. A lot of people feel the need to split the world into heterosexuals and homosexuals, but I really believe we’re all trisexual. The most interesting people I know are ones who refuse to categorise or define themselves by their desires.

maybe she just means currently?
apparently she was pretty unhappy with the image the record-label was projecting of her with her first album . . .
ive also noticed her whole singing style has changed, she used to have a sweet "little" voice and now shes much more raspy and deep . . .
i like her attitude too, she seems like one tough lady!

sometimes they call intersex (hermaphrodite) people the third gender . . . ive also heard asexuals called the third gender . . . theres a few theories floating around!
theres also the slang term that a trisexual "is willing to try anything" (youre sposed to snigger like a schoolboy when people say that!)

I always heard 'drum' boy.
I'm not much of a fan of her music and I really don't like this song but I think she has written some amazing lyrics in past songs. She's a very talented lyricist.

i was looking through many of her lyrics when i was writing this - i think her song "Dear Mr President" was some of the most raw and honest ive heard
Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep?
What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away?
And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay?

i agree, she is getting increasingly wild as time goes by . . . i think with each new album she is feeling more confident and more comfortable in her own skin!

"I guess I'll go sit with Drum Boy"
"At least he'll know how to hit"
was about.
I was wondering if Pink and Jessica ever got in a phyiscal altercation? I though maybe the "at least he'll know how to hit" was a jab at Jessica fighting like a girl?
Anyone know if they have ever got into it?
