A curious kitty watches on behind the flowers and grass there too with complete fascination above the mushroom table of cards just a stones throw away.

Card Menagerie By Bill Perkins ©2006

In a double suits game, Blood and line of fame,
The plays are the same, Grand and polished in all games,
As red-on-red pairs, The doubled sets of kin,
In laid out suits shared. Art and cards may yet win!

Solitaire and competitive patience, So double suits are a pleasing style,
With black-on-black changes, And certainly so worth the while:
Are admitted as quite rare, Diamond on Heart or Club on Spade,
But for double suits spare! Is how the match is always made! NOTE: Featured in Whose Who of Poetry 2007
