Tricia Hennessey
My name is Tricia Marie Hennessey. I have been trained in pencil drawings/portraits since 1995. I also do oil paintings and pastels. I have been taking lessons from Debra Barboza-Dunphy, a well known artist from Holyoke. I am the President of the Holyoke League of Arts & Crafts Inc., and am a member of the Massachusetts Cultural Council. Art saved my life in many ways. It has opened so many doors for me and has also healed my heart. The most rewarding part for me is seeing the expressions of gratitude and happiness it brings to the people I do it for. A lot of times when I know someone who has lost a loved one (pets, people) I will do a portrait for them without charging them one penny for it. Most of the time I do it without them knowing it is being done. I paint for the joy & spirituality it brings to me and to others. Art is a great way to express ones feelings and emotions. I have original artwork for sale, and commissions are always welcome.
Residencies, Workshops, & Other Education
Took a weekend workshop with Paul Lavelle a published artist from Holyoke, in oil portraits at the Wistariahurst Museum in Holyoke. I attend monthly meetings, lectures and demonstrations put on by the Holyoke Art League which I have been a member of since 1996. I was also Vice President of The Holyoke Art League in 1997. In 2002 till 2003 I became President. I again was voted to be President in 2008, and am still the current President.
